Last night, (the 27th March 2012) I went to see one of my favourite bands You Me At Six perform their Sinners Never Sleep tour at the SECC in Glasgow. It was such an amazing night. Really, every time I see You Me At Six live they out-do themselves on performance!

You Me at Six is a British rock band from Weybridge, Surrey.  The band consists of Josh Franceschi (Lead vocals), Max Helyer (Rhythm guitar and vocals), Chris Miller (Lead guitar), Matt Barnes (bass guitar) and Dan Flint (drums).

Formed in 2004, the group rose to fame in 2008 with the success of their debut album, Take Off Your Colours, which peaked at number 25 on the UK album charts.

It included the singles “Finders Keepers” and “Kiss and Tell”, peaking at No. 33 and No. 42 in the official UK Singles Chart.

Check Out the music video for “Save It For The Bedroom” one of my personal favourites from the Take Off Your Colours album.

The band released their second album, Hold Me Down on 11 January 2010,which reached number 5 in the UK charts.

They also done a UK tour for Hold Me Down which I also went to see last year 🙂

Hold Me Down featured some of You Me At Six’ most popular singles including, “Underdog” which reached number 49 in the UK and “Stay with Me“, which reached number 53. The song “Liquid Confidence” from Hold Me Down also won Best Single at the 2010 Kerrang! awards

Tim Newbound reviewed the album in the January 2010 edition of British magazine Rock Sound. He awarded the album 8/10 (personally I would give it 10/10 though haha) and stated “the album boasts a glorious sense of youthful exuberance… There are way too many melodic rock/pop-punk bands in the world who are happy to ride on the coattails of others; throughout Hold Me Down, You Me at Six have instead pushed themselves to create a record that will delight existing fans and should rightfully attract many more”

This now brings us on too You Me At Six’ third album – Sinners Never Sleep. It was released on 3 October 2011, and made it to Number 3 in the Official UK Album Charts! As mentioned above their debut album Take Off Your Colours only reached number 25 in the UK album chart, so you can see You Me At Six’ vast improvement in just three short years.

Sinners never Sleep also made it in the Irish album charts reaching number 26 and even the Australian album charts reaching number 28!

After a long wait, and hours of getting crushed, pushed and stood on in-between a crowd of 6,000 You Me At Six fans at the SECC in Glasgow, You Me At Six finally came on  and kicked of the night with the song “Loverboy.”  It was safe to say that they instantly made up for all the waiting, because they were absolutely amazing! “Loverboy” reached #39 on the UK Singles Chart, making it the band’s third Top-40 UK single!

After playing a 15 song set list including songs from all three albums, they finished the night with “Bite My Tongue” another song from Sinners Never Sleep. This was an excellent song to end it on, as it is my personal favourite from the album. You Me At Six definitely rocked the whole night, and as a fan who has liked them for many years, and seen them live four times, it was clear to see how much they have grown. They weren’t awarded “Best British band of 2011” at the Kerrang awards for nothing haha 😉

Further proving how much You Me At Six have grown in the past few years, is that, In March 2012, Thorpe Park announced they contacted You Me at Six to create the world’s first roller coaster single for the launch of “The Swarm”. The song was released to iTunes on March 18, 2012, a few days after the opening of the coaster.

“The Swarm” is still currently number 1 on the UK Rock chart! You Me At Six played this last night as part of their set, and to say it was amazing would be a downplay.

All in all, the Sinners Never Sleep concert at the SECC was amazing. I would go through all the pushing, getting stood on and practically dying of exhaustion again of it meant seeing You me At Six live.

The Glasgow SECC was so far You Me At Six’ biggest headlining concert. Some of the members of the band tweeted about their excitement for the show.

I loved how Dan tweeted that it could be there best show yet, because in my opinion it was 😉

Well I could probably ramble on all day about how amazing You Me At Six are so I am going to stop here. However, I definitely think everyone should give them a listen because they are an extremely talented band.
